We are based on Highfield Road, South Shore, Blackpool, FY4 2HG.
As you are driving down the road from the seafront past the mini roundabout at Abby road and we are just up the street behind 147 and 149, from this side look for a large red and blue gate on your right-hand side.
From the opposite direction go through the main set of traffic lights after the large playing field, passing the car garage, nursery and photographers, look on your left-hand side and you will see our yellow sign on the wall, this is our driveway behind 147/149, if you arrive at the hairdressers you have travelled too far.
What age do you teach?
We accept new students from age 2 years up to pre-proffesional in our dance classes, age 4 years plus for our gymnastics, freestyle disco and cheerleading sessions.
What does my child wear for classes?
We have a strict uniform policy for every class which is available in our on site shop, we suggest new members wear computable clothing such as leggings and a t-shirt (not too loose or crop tops please) for the first 3 weeks until they settle in.
Hair must be tied up at all times and in ballet bun with clips and hair net for all dance and rhythmic gymnastics classes.
Hair up off the neck for gymnastics, freestyle and drama.
Students are not allowed to wear jewellery or outdoor shoes in the studios/gym for health and safety reasons.
Can I watch my child's class?
You are very welcome to watch your child’s first session to settle them in and see how our academy is run.
After this we have a waiting room where parent/guardians and family members can wait and socialise.
We do not allow spectators in every week as we like our students to feel computable and safe in our environment without any distractions, although once members our happy, we do invite parents in from time to time to get sneak peaks and also so they can offer help when students are practicing at home.
How much will my fees be?
Classes start from £4.00 per class and are paid for on a monthly basis.
New members can pay for the first two sessions on arrival as a trial to make sure they settle into our academy.
After this fees are due between the 1st and 5th of each month by either direct debit or cash through he academy, a 5% surcharge will be added for all late payments.
Cats with Red Shoes is open 40 weeks per year so payments are spread out evenly so you can send the same amount every calendar month, the exact amount will be given when you enrol.
Is there a membership?
The academy itself does not charge any membership fees, although anyone who chooses any of our gymnastics classes will need to register and pay an annual fee of £17 to our governing body British Gymnastics Association, this will be due after the first two session through there internet site.

Does my child have to wear the uniform?
Yes – all of our students are required to be in uniform after 3 weeks.
This helps to create a sense of team and belonging. Our students are very proud to wear there uniforms along with there appearance.
All uniform is available through the academy. We also have uniform enrolment packages available for new members, this works out cheaper to purchase as a whole set.
Will my child take part in show, competitions and exams?
We aim to give all our students every opportunity possible. We produce an annual show around Christmas time for all our members and have 4 teams who perform world wide (these teams are by invite only), we also offer competitions in every subject along with exams.
These are a fantastic experience for all our members and a great way to develop any performer or sports person giving them more self confidence to last a lifetime along with amazing memories and friendships along the way.
However all events in cats with red shoes calendar are optional for every student and if you choose not to take part your child would not be excluded from any part of there normal classes.
Do you offer Private Lessons?
Yes we do, although times are limited and they do book up very fast, please call the studio for more information if you are interested.
What are you class sizes?
Class sizes can vary from session to session, in larger classes there will be two teachers.
This being said even in larger sessions full attention is given to every student and they are treated as an individual so they have every opportunity to excel in there chosen subject.
Do I have to commit to a time period?
No – we only ask that is if you choose to terminate your enrolment you give the academy written notice and 4 weeks after this arrives with us must be paid for in full, as with session being paid for on pro-rata this will cover the classes already taken at the academy.
Please remember with any discipline there will be lots of fun times and enjoyment, but there may also be an element of hard work. We are passionate about our curriculum and enjoy helping our students grow both in confidence and creativity, however like to stretch our students so they can reach their highest potential and encourage members to work through any challenges.
What if I want to talk to a teacher?
As I am sure you can understand, academy timetables are very tight so it does not always allow time to talk in between, as a class could be waiting, so please feel free to drop us a message or phone call to arrange a time to chat, as you are very important to us, so we will contact you at a convenient time.
What exam board do you study?
Our teachers are qualified and registered with the Royal Academy of Dance, ISTD, UKA, British Gymnastics Association, LAMDA and BCA.
So classes will be based around this syllabus.
Exams are regularly taken trough UKA and British Gymnastics.
